The North East Innovation Lab’s work with diagnostic test developers to assess the performance of their innovations is playing a role in advancing the next generation of diagnostic tests.
The lab, part of Newcastle Hospitals also helps clients to pull together a portfolio of evidence for regulatory approvals.
And the team supports test developers with access to the biobank which contains thousands of biological samples including Covid-19, blood, serum and saliva. The lab can also collect specific samples to fit with the needs of clients.
Dr John Tyson, head of the lab, along with principal scientists Dr Caroline Wilson and Dr Simon Rock, Dr Donna Nile who manages the biobank and commercial manager Melanie Shield are representing the lab at NHS Confed Expo on 15 and 16 June 2022.
The commercial team will also be at the event talking about the range of services which enable the NHS and partners including academia and industry to access the world class facilities and expertise of The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Work includes engaging with and navigating NHS organisations, product market placement, diagnostics, leveraging funding, value proposition and engaging with clients.
