Dr Caroline Wilson, our former principal scientist has been appointed to the role of commercial business manager at the North East Innovation Lab.
Caroline is one of the founding members of the lab team and has been with us for the last two and a half years, leading a range of projects focused on evaluating and assessing new technologies and diagnostic assays.
In her new role, Caroline will continue to work closely with the lab’s team of scientists but in a different guise, leading our commercial and business development activities, including managing new enquiries and converting leads into costed, contracted projects.
Caroline said: “I’m delighted to be appointed to my new role. It’s exciting and fulfilling to work in such a fast-paced environment, devising methodologies and tests to help our clients bring their diagnostic products to market. Each project is unique and we’re in a perfect position to provide tailored evaluation and validation, often using clinical samples held on our biobank, to inform development and launch into mainstream use, making a huge difference to patients.
“I’m looking forward to playing a key role in supporting the lab’s continued growth through expanding our services and commercial activity.”
Meanwhile, former commercial manager for the lab Melanie Shield has been promoted to senior business manager in the commercial enterprise team.
