We were delighted to welcome Aejaz Zahid, director of innovation for North East and North Cumbria NHS for a visit to the North East Innovation lab.
Head of the lab Dr John Tyson and commercial manager Melanie Shield talked about the lab’s work to support diagnostic developers to evaluate the performance of their diagnostic tests, and the role that diagnostics play in helping people to manage their own health, as well as assisting the NHS to provide targeted treatment and support for patients.
Associate director of the commercial enterprise team Andrea Burroughs had the opportunity to talk about the team’s role in supporting the spread and adoption of products and services to benefit patients – in particular the work with the lab supporting the expansion of its services from Covid-19 diagnostics to include other health and virus threats such as infectious disease, cancer and sepsis.
Our innovation business manager Charlotte Fox spoke about her key role in working with innovators at Newcastle Hospitals and the wider north east to bring their bright ideas through to the bedside.
