Josh Bell
Clinical service manager

Josh is responsible for managing the occupational health service (OHS) and ensuring that appropriate governance is in place to facilitate high quality, evidence based service provision. Josh works with external organisations and clients to set up occupational health support for workers.
Josh is a chartered physiotherapist by background with over 10 years’ experience working across the NHS, private practice as well as in amateur and professional sport.
Dr Kiera McDowall
Consultant occupational health physician

Dr McDowall is a consultant in occupational health at the Newcastle Hospitals since 2019.
She is a clinical and educational supervisor to occupational medicine resident doctors. Additionally, she is the training programme director for occupational medicine within NHS England North East. She is also the deputy regional specialty advisor for the North of England region of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.
She has an examiner role for the Diploma in Occupational Medicine hosted by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and is the course director of the Faculty approved introductory course in occupational medicine.
Emma Moore
Clinical Lead Nurse

Emma leads the Newcastle OHS nursing team, bringing extensive experience and expertise in workplace health and wellbeing. She oversees all aspects of the OHS nursing services including immunisations, clinical assessments, health surveillance, and supports staff in managing occupational health challenges. Emma is passionate about promoting a safe, healthy environment for all employees and ensuring compliance with best practice standards.
Becky Cuthbertson
Advanced physiotherapist

Becky has worked in the NHS for 24 years as a qualified physiotherapist and has 10 years experience working within occupational health. She is the lead for Newcastle Hospitals occupational health physiotherapy team, providing clinical expertise and operational leadership. The team delivers advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment for NHS staff with musculoskeletal and occupational related conditions.
Responsibilities include; provision of workplace assessments and expert advice regarding fitness for work and return to work strategies; supporting health and wellbeing initiatives and promoting self-management and behavioural change to support injury prevention. The team are committed to clinical education and provide student placements for local universities.
Liam Davis
Project manager

Liam is a Project Manager at Newcastle OHS, his role entails leading and supporting initiatives to improve staff health and wellbeing. His role includes developing and enhancing our occupational health records management system to streamline processes and ensure compliance, as well as supporting the annual staff vaccination programme. With experience in healthcare project delivery, he focuses on implementing practical solutions that improve efficiency and service quality.
Alyson Neale
Senior data administrator

Alyson leads the administrative team within the Newcastle OHS, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations and delivering high-quality support to both staff and clients. With extensive experience in procurement and contract management, she contributes to the effective coordination of resources and supplier relationships, supporting the service in meeting strategic and operational goals.
Clare Brown
Specialist nurse

Clare is a specialist occupational health nurse with over 30 years’ experience and a distinction in specialist community public health nursing. She has worked across public and private sectors, supporting both large organisations and SMEs.
Clare contributes to complex case management, with interests in neurodiversity, menopause, mental health, and occupational skin health. She supports governance, audit, and nurse development, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice. As Chair of the north east branch of the Society of Occupational Medicine, Clare facilitates regional networking and CPD. She is a qualified nurse assessor, experienced tutor and presenter, and holds a Level 6 teaching qualification.
