Moving innovative ideas through the process of research and into a ‘real life’ environment – to realise the benefits for patients, families and staff – can be a challenge.
But it’s a challenge that can be navigated by sharing expertise and insight across organisations and sectors, which is why we’re delighted to be playing a part in this year’s annual Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Innovation Summit, taking place in Newcastle.
The day will include panel sessions, case studies and a market place, with speakers from a range of backgrounds, including our associate director of commercial enterprise, Andrea Burroughs, who will speak about ‘Entrepreneurship and commercialisation: a perspective from the NHS’.
Andrea will be sharing thoughts about how innovation forms part of a continuum with research – evaluation – enterprise – commercialisation, sharing the example of our successful North East Innovation Lab.
At Newcastle Hospitals, innovation has an important role in business strategy and our commercial team – who have a combined expertise from numerous high-profile public and private organisations – work with a range of clinical and non-clinical colleagues to explore, advise and shape the development of ideas.
