Our teams from the North East Innovation Lab and Novopath shared insight on their work for delegates at the Diagnostics North East Conference.
The event was held on Friday 17 March and brought together professionals from the diagnostics and therapeutics fields to share the role precision medicine plays in healthcare and transforming research into real life patient benefits.
Over 150 delegates attended and the North East innovation lab, NovoPath and NIHR Newcastle IVD Co-operative (Mic) each exhibited and connected with guests to share their work to support the diagnostic development pathway.
The innovation lab team delivered an interactive joint breakout session with the Mic to explore ‘what test, where and why’ whilst Novopath teamed up with AMLo to run a session on their joint work which led to the production of a new diagnostic kit to highlight people with early stage melanoma who are at risk of the disease developing.
Our executive director Dr Vicky Macfarlane Reid and Dr Jackie Cook, co-clinical director, at the North East and Yorkshire Genomics Medicine Service gave a key note speech focused on tackling health inequalities through better access to diagnostics.
