Professor Simon Bailey
Professor Simon Bailey is a Consultant Paediatric Oncologist at the Great North Children’s Hospital specialising in neuro-oncology and a Professor of paediatric neuro-oncology at Newcastle University.
A world leading opinion in the management of paediatric brain tumours, professor Bailey is clinical lead for the neuro-oncology research programme which is associated with £15 million in grant funding. He is chief investigator of the European High Risk Medulloblastoma trial and current chair of SIOP Europe Embryonal (brain) Tumour group. Prior to this he was chair of the UK Embryonal Tumour Group and chair of the National Cancer Research Institute Paediatric brain tumour Group.

Dr Quentin Campbell Hewson
Dr Quentin Campbell-Hewson is a consultant paediatric oncologist specialising in solid tumour oncology, sarcomas, early phase trials and palliative care at the Great North Children’s Hospital.
As the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health College tutor for Newcastle, Dr Campbell-Hewson is responsible for the training of junior doctors in children’s services here.
As a strong advocate for new therapies he jointly established a Northern Network for Children’s Cancer Early Phase trials which encompasses Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This network has been the template for the networks which now cover the whole UK.
He is active as a member of the UK Experimental Medicines Cancer Group Paediatric Network Strategy group and the European Innovative Therapies for Children’s Cancer consortium.
Dr Campbell Hewson is the director of the National Institute for Health Research Paediatric Clinical Research Facility in Newcastle. He is chair elect of the National Cancer Research Institute Children and Young Peoples New Agents Group. He leads the biological marker subgroup for the European FOSTER Osteosarcoma network.
