We provide the following routine histological methods, in an ISO-accredited diagnostic laboratory:
Paraffin processing – formalin fixation and paraffin processing of human and animal tissues. Acid/EDTA decalcification techniques are available for calcified tissues.
Embedding – creation of paraffin wax blocks (FFPE) with tissue embedded in required orientation.
Microtomy Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) – cutting of thin tissue sections from a paraffin block to mount on glass microscope slides.
Cryotomy (fresh tissue) – specialised preparation and cutting of orientated fresh frozen tissue.
Special stains – large repertoire of special stains to identify specific tissue structures, pigments, minerals and microorganisms. Please click here for full repertoire (insert link).
Molecular pathology – a rapidly developing area of importance within diagnostics and translational research, of increasing significance in patient care due to the continuing development of personalised medicine.
We offer multiple tissue-based molecular diagnostic techniques to facilitate genetic and proteomic analyses:
• Diagnostic and research repertoire of In-Situ Hybridisation (ISH), including RNAscope® from advanced cell diagnostics, single and dual brightfield, chromogenic and immunofluorescent.
• Sterile tissue preparation (curls/macrodissection/laser capture microscopy) for downstream DNA/RNA analysis.
• Tissue DNA/RNA extraction and purification, plus quantification using NanoDropTM and Qubit platforms.
• Manual cellularity assessment from consultant pathologists utilising expertise in their chosen fields.
